On April 20, 2017, Farmers Edge was awarded the Business Excellence award for Workforce Planning and Talent Management from CPHR Manitoba. This award is granted to organizations that have made significant achievements in building a high-quality workforce, specifically linked to achieving overall organizational strategies.
In 2015, Farmers Edge was faced with a significant challenge – to develop a strategy to grow the number of employees to meet customer demand. With no official HR function within the company, Farmers Edge hired an HR Manager to lead the initiative. In a short period of time, the Farmers Edge HR department grew to four employees. The newly developed HR department worked to develop a recruitment strategy, implement an official hiring process and facilitate ongoing training programs for employees including the online training platform, Farmers Edge University. HR has also introduced employee incentives and benefits programs to improve and encourage employee retention.
By 2016, the HR team had successfully hired and trained 383 new employees across Canada, USA, Australia and Brazil – a 371% staff increase from the year before. HR has proven to be an instrumental component in the overall success and growth of Farmers Edge.
